The hosts

Roland Barmet met Raquel Garcia in 1982 in Switzerland while working in the hotel industry. Raquel comes from Villafranca del Bierzo/Dargonte where her family still live today. Togeter they have two adult children (Selina and Fabio).

In 1994 they bought the winery - today's Finca esencial - to fulfill the dream of a boutique hotel and also to produce their own wine. The vision is to make this “pearl” accessible for people who appreciate it.

In 2022, the dream became true and the four-room boutique hotel opened. From now on during the summer months Roland and Raquel welcome guests from all over the world.

Victor Arroyo Alba is a oenologist from a neighbour village and takes care of the farm of the finca and is also the producer of finca esencial wines. The horses at the finca are his.

During the cooler months (October-April), Roland and Raquel continue to live and work in Switzerland.
